Our story
A bank started by people who'd been turned down by one
Western Alliance opened its first branch in 1987 after its founders — a manufacturer and a bookkeeper — were declined a line of credit by a bank that never looked past their balance sheet's worst quarter. We've spent 37 years building the bank we wished existed then: patient, plain-spoken, and stable through the parts of the cycle other lenders run from. Today we hold $14.2 billion in assets and serve more than 52,000 business relationships, but the underwriting question hasn't changed: can this business hold its line, and can we help it?
